"U" Numbered Begonias
Charles is a past president of the American Begonia Society and a founding member of our branch. He is an internationally recognized begonia judge (including the prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show), and grows outstanding begonias. In addition, we always look forward to having him serve as auctioneer “extrordinaire” for our yearly February fundraiser! Along with Mary Bucholtz, Charles is Co-Chair of Unidentified Species (“U" Numbers) for ABS, which assigns and tracks “U” numbers. This is the number given to every newly discovered begonia until a determination is made as to whether it has been previously described or is a newly discovered species. Charles will give a PowerPoint presentation highlighting some of the over 600 “U” numbered begonias.
