President’s Message

I have had a really busy summer, the last note that I was able to write for everyone, My Begonias we happy, full, flush and vibrant. As I reside east of I-95 in the north county, my plants have suffered through excessive heat, drought like conditions and have writhered away. I have since moved west to PGA (west of I-95) and now the remaining plants are drowning. Cannot seem to get the conditions just right...So we will plant a new batch. Septembers meeting will be a workshop.

We will have one of the famous Begonia Societies Strawberry Pot Parties! All you have to do is come to the meeting, bring a strawberry pot or other container and we will mix up some soil, divide up some plants and everyone should go home with a growing begonia garden!

I am writing from Chattanooga Tennessee taking care of parents, floating down the Hiawassee river. All of grandma's neighbors expect begonia plants when I come up now, but we'll have enough left for the potting party on the 12th and perhaps the West Palm Beach Library program on the 13th.

Due to family events, I will not be attending the ABS convention in Ca. next week, however Frances Dresher and Johanna Kitson will be there to represent the Palm Beach Branch. I have sent in our annual report and Frances can present it to the ABS Board. Hope to attend next year.

See everyone at the meeting.
